Why did you join SCout?
I wanted to join SCout because my passion for science really stemmed from early exposure. I wanted to pass the torch down and share that passion with the next generation of scientists!
What has been your favorite classroom memory? Has there been a student interaction that stands out to you?
I asked the junior scientists what they wanted to do when they got older and one student replied, "I want to be a SCout, just like you!β

One of the girls at the table I was working with officially inducted me as a member of their "Unicorn Squad" and taught me their secret handshake.

My favorite memory was actually from last semester; a quiet student in our special education class took their laptop to the window to show us all the strange stuffed animals that had appeared on their neighbor's roof. Hearing how excited he was from getting to show us his discovery was super heartwarming!

I joined SCout because I led a very similar club at my high school and I wanted to continue doing science work with kids! I loved science as a kid and I think itβs really important to give other kids the opportunity to fall in love with science too!
My favorite classroom memory is when we had a little bit of extra time after learning buzzwords in our small group and we talked with the kids about what they want to be when they grow up!!

I love science, kids, and teaching. In high school, I was very involved with mentoring younger kids, and I want to continue this passion throughout college.
What has been your favorite session/SCouting memory?
My favorite memory was when one of the kids from my session came up to me as we were leaving the classroom and told me that she loves science and told me about all of her science books.
